projects :: mccormick's enterprises McCormick's Enterprises, a seller and distributor of marching band apparel, equipment and software, needed a new web site with a fresh look and more advanced functionality. Their legacy system included an Access database that they used to manage their full list of products. My job was to build an all new, web based catalog management system along with full content management, reporting and exporting capabilities. I built a fully functional and feature rich catalog manager from the ground up, suitable for integration within the Joomla content management system. I converted and imported their existing Access database of over 5,000 products, categories and their various associations into the new system. I also built user stats reporting and an export feature that allows McCormick's to synchronize their catalog with GoEMerchant, their e-commerce provider.

The front end includes some attractive features like multiple product images and "lightbox" style enlargements (example). The user can click on each image thumbnail to slide through the images and click each image to view an enlarged version. Users can also rate products and post reviews, which are moderated by McCormick's staff. Many of the front end features, like pagination and submission of reviews, utilize Ajax to post and load dynamic content. The links to products and categories are search engine friendly. These links are auto-generated based on the title of the category/product. Overall the site is highly optimized for search engines, as well as security, usability and performance.
